The preparation course

Two years of training – with a strategy for the exam

The Eloquia preparation course for the IHK translator exam lasts two years on average. You can start at any time, provided you have completed a vocational qualification or a degree and can demonstrate at least one year of professional experience.

The fee for the IHK exam is 300 euros. If the IHK does not offer the translator qualification for your desired language combination, you can alternatively sit the exam as a staatlich geprüfter Übersetzer (state-certified translator).

An essay on regional studies in the foreign language plus two translations – each from the native and foreign language respectively.

Oral exam

A discussion on regional studies and two sight translations.

Thematic focus

Both parts of the exam cover current topics from the economy, politics and law of the native and foreign language areas.
