Courses

Language courses

Which course is the right one?

Before you begin your course, we carry out a placement test so that we can find the right course for you. Here is the link to the free placement test.

How can I register for a course?

We no longer offer open group courses; instead, we put your course together individually – as one-to-one lessons or as a private small group with people of your choosing. The best way to start is with our free placement test; afterwards, we will advise you personally on the right format. For tailored one-to-one courses, private groups, corporate courses or advice, you can reach our contact, Ms Emma Lomax (Director of Studies and Business Development), on +49 (0)69 238593-14 or elomax@eloquia.com.

How many participants are in a course?

In our private small groups, there are usually 3–8 participants – all at the same level and with the same goal. In one-to-one lessons, you work one to one with your teacher.

Which book do we use in lessons?

Depending on the participants' needs, we select the appropriate book. Our materials are always personalised. Your teacher will inform you directly in the lessons about the book being used.

How long does it take to complete a level?

All our courses are based on the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). You can find more information about the CEFR at europaeischer-referenzrahmen.de. Please note that every participant learns at a different pace. In one-to-one lessons, you usually make faster progress than in a group. For advice, you can reach Ms Emma Lomax on +49 (0)69 238593-14 or elomax@eloquia.com.

Will I receive a certificate after the course?

Yes, at the end of the course we issue a free Eloquia certificate – with your name, the name and duration of the course and your level. Please note: the Eloquia certificate is not recognised worldwide. If you need an official proof of language proficiency, please book an exam with us.

Do you have language courses for children and young people?

Yes, we offer private small groups or one-to-one lessons as required. For further information, you can reach Ms Emma Lomax on +49 (0)69 238593-14 or elomax@eloquia.com.

How long does a teaching unit last?

A teaching unit lasts 45 minutes, a teaching block 90 minutes (two units). In an intensive course, lessons may last longer than 90 minutes.

Can I have a trial lesson?

Yes, with pleasure! Please contact Ms Emma Lomax to arrange a trial lesson: +49 (0)69 238593-14 or elomax@eloquia.com.

Exams & preparation

telc and international exams

Are telc exams officially recognised?

In Germany, telc GmbH is the federal government's partner for the language exam that completes the integration courses. Anyone wishing to apply for German citizenship can prove the required language skills with a telc certificate. In all German-speaking countries, telc German certificates are recognised when it comes to residence permits.

How can I register for an exam?

You can register with us in person at the exam centre or online – depending on the language, via our exam pages (English, German, French, Spanish, Italian). We are also happy to advise you by telephone on +49 (0)69 23 00 20.

Is there a registration deadline?

Registration is possible as long as there are places available and at least one week lies between the registration date and the exam date. For online registration: red = fully booked, yellow = few places available, green = places available.

How long do the results take?

Results are available approximately 6 weeks after the exam. As soon as they reach us, we will send you the certificate by post immediately.

Can I cancel or reschedule an exam?

The cancellation periods apply in accordance with our terms and conditions. If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch with us. You can find our terms and conditions in the legal notice.

I have lost my telc certificate. What now?

If you lose your certificate, you can apply to telc for a duplicate for a fee.

What do I need to bring to the exam?

Please bring your identity card, passport or residence permit (with a photo).

How can I best prepare for a test?

With one of our targeted preparation courses. You can find an overview of all courses (Cambridge, telc, TOEFL, IELTS, GMAT, individual training) on the exam preparation page. For DAAD, TOEIC or Linguaskill preparation, we will advise you individually – Mr Christopher Mann, +49 (0)69 238593-12, cmann@eloquia.com.

What is the difference between TOEIC, TOEFL and IELTS?

TOEFL iBT is the world's leading English-language test for study, work and immigration and is accepted by more than 11,000 universities in over 150 countries. IELTS Academic is suitable for studying in an English-speaking university environment; IELTS General Training is geared towards everyday life and work and is required, among other things, for migration to Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

How long do the various tests take?

Translations

Translation agency

How much does a translation cost?

The price is calculated according to the volume of text, the level of difficulty and the language combination. Feel free to send us your document by e-mail – you will receive a non-binding quotation. We charge per line (by standard line), at a flat rate, by minimum order value or by the hour (usually for proofreading).

How much does a certified translation cost?

The price is calculated according to the volume of text, the level of difficulty and the language combination; certification fees apply in addition. Send us your document in advance as a PDF scan (not a photo!) by e-mail for a non-binding quotation. If you place an order, the original must be presented.

How long does a translation take?

The duration depends on the volume of text (standard lines), the level of difficulty and the availability of the respective translator. As part of our non-binding quotation, we also give you an estimate of the timeframe. For certified translations, we usually need at least four to five working days.

What is a standard line and how is it determined?

A standard line consists of 55 characters including spaces. To determine the number of standard lines in a document, we use a special counting program.

What is a certified translation?

A certified translation is a translation recognised by the authorities, the accuracy of which is legally assured (certified). It is produced by a court-sworn translator who confirms that the translation matches the source text. We do not offer notarial certification.

Does the original of the source text have to be presented?

In principle, yes. At the end of the translation, the sworn translator notes whether the source text was available as the original or as a copy. Most authorities accept only certified translations based on the original. Exceptions should be clarified in advance with the relevant body.

How is quality ensured?

Through the careful selection of trained translators (Diploma, M.A., state-certified), long-standing collaboration with the same regular translators, fulfilment of court requirements for certified translations, reliable and transparent project management, and our ISO certification (TÜV-certified).
