The A2 Key (KET) proves that you can confidently understand and use English in simple everyday situations. As an entry-level certificate, it is particularly suitable for school pupils and as a first proof on the way to B1 Preliminary and beyond.
7 parts: multiple choice, matching, gap-fill, a short email and a picture story.
Short conversations & announcements, including 6 min transfer time.
Interview + discussion, with 1–2 candidates and 2 examiners.
Total duration approx. 1 hr 40 min – short breaks between the parts are possible.
A2 Key is assessed on the Cambridge English Scale. Depending on the score achieved, a certificate is issued at B1, A2 or A1:
Yes. Content, assessment and recognition are identical – the only difference is the format (computer). Digital results are usually available sooner.
